Vice Tells Us What It Means To Be A Slut In 2013

Last week, Vice published “What It Means to Be A Slut in 2013,” an article by Amelia Abraham that deftly touches on the myriad uses of the term, from political bumble and high school taunt to internet hatespeech and feminist rallying cry. The piece was meant to prelude London’s “Slut Night,” which diverges a bit from the varying (and sometimes ambivalent) goals of worldwide Slutwalks. Rather than a march to reclaim the word slut, it is an event “to completely undermine it” through parody and performance. With a highly fraught topic like this one, we can all take a cue from feminists who lead the way to think inside the box for a change. Thanks, Amelia.
