Bringing together incisive, absurd and hilarious film, performance art, standup, drag, and everything in-between, the Opentoe Peepshow is one of Slutist’s new local favorites. The monthly night, held at Branded Bar and Saloon, is curated by Heels on Wheels, “a group of interdisciplinary performing artists who create performance-based cultural works and community events produced from sites of femme/inine-positive queer embodiment to reveal power in under-represented communities.”
Our first foray into this queer art salon brought a collection of ridiculously cute and witty folk numbers based on Craigslist missed connections (Winter Laike), celluloid Jewish mimes (Jenny Romaine), and a drag show about asshole landlords and being evicted in NYC (Lady Quesadilla & West Vargina), to name a few. There were so many more memorable performances, and the maple bacon milkshake, and the cash-filled piñata, and YOU JUST HAD TO BE THERE. Support local artists and check out the next one on January 5th!
