Mercy Mistress: Reclaiming BDSM and Kink from Big Media

Hello Slutists,

We are a phenomenal and diverse community. I am as proud of being kinky as I am of being queer, of being Chinese American, and of being a mother of two daughters. I’m a bondage enthusiast, a sex work activist, and can make a truffled edamame dumpling that would make your toes curl. Yes, all of these things and more. And I know that you are so much more, each of you individually, and together as a sex party or leather event. Each of us has a story that goes beyond what our current media portrays. The book/movie that we hate to name has written our sexual identity into a corner on the big screen and in the collective mind.

I want to make a webseries about kink, BDSM, the sex industry, Asian American-ness, queerdom, and good food. And include YOU. Yes, this project is narcissistic. The protagonist is named after my scene name—Yin. She is a professional dominatrix in New York City. She even wears my shoes! My goal, though, is to create a show that I can be proud of to the leather and sex work community. The storyteller is the ultimate Service Top—to tell your story, to offer a slice of your life with integrity and wit. Allow me to serve you.

Mercy Mistress is a fictional show based on my career as a professional dominatrix in New York City. Each episode focuses on a particular client, their kink, and their slice of life: Where their proclivities developed from and how they balance (or don’t balance) with their “vanilla” reality. From the nucleus of one woman’s work, the show delves into all the colors and shades of sexuality.

Mercy Mistress — the title itself is a reference to the safe word that BDSM participants use to keep their actions within consensual arena, to keep them safe. It is also a bow to the Buddhist diety, Kwan Yin — who has pledged to walk the earth until she has aided and vanquished all human suffering. The film, while entertaining and tantalizing, is also a social enterprise vehicle for the intersectionality of identity. (50 shades of skin tone and more!) This is not a cliche of the broken sex worker but neither is it the liberal PC fairytale of the happy hooker. It’s a real story about a real sex worker.

I am Mistress, Master, Shamanatrix, CycleSlut, and MotherWhore. My intention is to illuminate a smattering of voices in the vast spectrum of sexual orientation that is kink. Together with an all female production team, Collective Sex, we are asking for your financial and promotional support to make this webisode. Please consider making a donation and demanding that your submissive or pleading for your Top to do so, as well.

With tender, leather heart,
Yin Q
