January Slut of the Month: Sophie Saint Thomas

Starting off 2017 with a babely bang, Sophie Saint Thomas is our January Slut of the Month. A writer and provocateur with bylines in Playboy, Vice, Cosmopolitan, High Times, and many more, Sophie is notorious for her fearless explorations of the erotic and the occult. She was named one of Brooklyn Magazine‘s 30 under 30, and explored childhood sex fantasies for Slutist in 2016. Read on for a peek inside her prismatic psyche:

I am: Sophie Saint Thomas

By Day: Writer

By Night: Usually still writing, or studying the tarot while waiting for my insomnia to subside.

My Vices: I gave up alcohol sometime ago which used to be my primary vice, and now only use cannabis which I consider a virtue. I’d say my main vice these days is vanity (although I don’t believe that’s inherently evil — unless they are causing harm to you or others, I don’t believe there’s anything wrong with vices). So these days for me that includes overspending on makeup and skin care, in particular, Kat Von D liquid lipsticks and Erno Laszlo products, maintaining my pink hair, eyelash extensions (worth it!), and popping pimples (now this one is bad, but feels so good). Also, nachos and indulging in catastrophic thinking.

My Virtues: Telling the truth, self-love, being a wonderful mother to two orange marmalade cats, calling my grandmother, helping other women, and leaving thoughts of jealousy and anger directed elsewhere (what up patriarchy), making friends a priority. Also, dope sex.

The Present: Writing, expressing gratitude to have managed to make a decent living by writing (a feat years in the making) studying the occult, trying to always be a good friend and help out other women, brewing lots of tea and herbal concoctions. Overusing glitter.

The Future: At some point, someone is going to give me a lot of money to write a book that I hope some motherfuckers will want to burn.

Favorite Flavor: Ben & Jerry’s Cherry Garcia

Favorite Feeling: That realization usually only experienced on a mountain in Hawaii, petting a dog, on LSD, or in a post-orgasm stupor that being alive actually isn’t so bad.

Favorite Fabric: Lace and satin on a Marchesa gown or Dita Von Teese underwear, also freshly washed high-thread count sheets misted with lavender oil.

Substance is: Being and expressing yourself without fear while doing minimum harm to others.

Style is: Wearing whatever makes you feel like the most you-version of Beyoncé, be that leather and fishnets, a power suit, or second-hand mom jeans and a Salvation Army musty turtle neck.

Slut is: Enjoying and embracing your individual sexuality, from orientation to relationship format, which gives you the most joy and pleasure without fear of judgment from society. Sluts rock!
